Our friends at The Loud Label and Do314 welcome to St. Louis a trio that’s worth your time to check out. Luster, from Chicago, takes the stage at the Firebird with Paper Dolls and The Reeling Gilly

Their 2009 album, Run From Dogs, their first full-length professional studio release, contains one part pop driven Alternative rock mixed with an updated ’80s synth sound reminiscent of The Flaming Lips from The Soft Bulletin era. Comprised of Jeremy Mederich on lead vocals and bass guitar, his brother and drummer Bryan Mederich, and guitarist Jonathan Brubaker, the band originally formed in 2001, but made the foray into music full time a couple of years ago. The group also released an EP, High Class B-Sides earlier this year.

For a little more behind the band see this short 2009 interview from PlaybackSTL. To hear their sound check out the videos below

If for some strange reason you’re busy and you can’t make it to The Firebird, then be sure to catch them at the Stagger Inn…Again in Edwardsville on Saturday night. Hey, Edwardsville is only 20 miles from downtown St. Louis. It’s not like you have to drive to Chicago or something.
